- Police found one person with serious injuries, who was taken to hospital.

A woman was heard screaming out 鈥渢he pain, the pain鈥 from where she lay injured on the road moments after a suspected stabbing in a residential suburb.
Police confirmed one person is in custody and another person is in a serious condition in hospital following a fight involving four people in Mt Wellington, Auckland.
A 24-year-old student, who asked not to be named, said her family was 鈥渢raumatised鈥 by the events overnight.
The Boakes Rd resident said at 8.50pm on Thursday, she heard a group of people yelling at each other as they walked down the street.
鈥淲e heard screaming and we were like, 鈥榃hat the heck鈥,鈥 she said.
鈥淭here was four people fighting and they kind of ended up on that side of the corner of the road, and the screaming just was getting louder and louder.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 know exactly what they were arguing about, but it was something really silly about like disrespecting partners or something.鈥
She went outside to see what was going on, but things quickly turned violent.
鈥淭hen they were screaming, 鈥極h, there鈥檚 a knife, there鈥檚 a knife鈥, and so we ran back inside, and that鈥檚 when we rang the police because we were like, 鈥極kay, this is really out of hand鈥.
鈥淏etween that time being on the phone to the police, there was a person lying on the ground, and they鈥檇 been stabbed.
鈥淪he was screaming for help and saying, 鈥榯he pain, the pain鈥, and we instantly knew that she had been stabbed.鈥
She said about 10 police cars, three ambulances and a fire engine responded to the incident very quickly.
鈥淚t was absolutely insane. Honestly, I have never seen police come here that quick in my life.

鈥淭he weirdest part was just like... [the people who were with the woman] didn鈥檛 run away, they just stood around.鈥
Her family didn鈥檛 get to sleep until 1am as police detectives scoured the street for evidence following the incident.
鈥淚鈥檝e never experienced anything like that, but I think also the worst part was just hearing someone... lying on the ground screaming for help.鈥
Police were called to an address on Boakes Rd, Mt Wellington, at 9pm following a report of four people fighting, a police spokesperson said.
鈥淯pon arrival, one person was located with serious injuries.
鈥淥ne person was quickly taken into custody nearby and the victim was transported to hospital in a serious condition.鈥

A St John spokesperson said one ambulance, one rapid response and one manager to the incident.
鈥淲e have transported one person to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.鈥
Last night, officers were positioned on either side of the scene as police photographers and detectives worked through the crime scene.
Detectives could be seen examining a section of the footpath outside the address following the incident.

The cordon had been removed by Friday morning.
Police inquiries are ongoing.
