Reports a laser was shone at an Air New Zealand aircraft at Kerikeri Airport in Northland are being investigated by police.
The aircraft departed the airport early on Thursday morning and was flying about 1500 feet above the ground when the green laser strike occurred, police say.
Police says the incident is serious and asked anyone with information about it to call them.
