Motorists have been warned to expect delays after a motorcycle crash south of the Auckland Harbour Bridge closed several lanes of State Highway 1 this morning.
Just before 9am three lanes heading into the city were blocked by a smash between a motorbike and a vehicle.
An eyewitness said it appeared a motorcyclist had collided with a vehicle sending the bike and the rider into the air.
The female rider was assessed by a trained paramedic who happened to be travelling across the bridge at the time.
The lanes were reopened around 9.10am.
Earlier NZTA said a possible serious crash was blocking the three left lanes southbound after the bridge.
Motorists were asked to merge into the unaffected two lanes with care and to expect long delays.
If possible, those heading into the city were asked to delay their journey if possible.
A Police spokesperson said all lanes on the Harbour Bridge were now open and traffic flows returning to normal.
Three lanes were blocked around 8.45am due to a northbound nose to tail near Westhaven.
There were reports of serious injury.
