Positively Wellington Tourism is getting behind the latest moves to bring pandas from China to the capital's zoo.
John Key has indicated he will again raise the possibility with the Chinese of swapping a couple of pandas for kiwi when he's next in talks with the leadership there.
The Prime Minister confirmed yesterday that the government would also help foot the massive bill.
Wellington Tourism spokesman David Perks says having pandas in Wellington will bring a massive amount of tourism spin-offs with it.
"I think it could create a decent amount of excitement and something quite different. One of those rare animals in the world that can be seen."
Perks said getting a realistic handle on the costs should be their first priority.
"Understanding how those costs would fit against the relative benefits for the city would be an important part of the equation."
