New Zealand netball veteran Kelly Jackson has revealed she shot down Australian Super Netball offers to remain loyal to the Silver Ferns.

It comes amid increasing calls for the eligibility criteria to change. The Netball New Zealand board鈥檚 current rules state players must play in the ANZ Premiership to be available for the national team.

The Central Pulse defender鈥榮 decision to turn down the bigger crowds, better facilities and higher quality competition of Super Netball is a clear indication the regulations are working in keeping Aotearoa鈥檚 top players at home.

Jackson, nee Jury, told Newstalk ob体育接口 shifting across the Tasman is something she has considered over the last couple of years.

鈥淚 have had opportunities to go to Australia,鈥 the 28-year-old said.

鈥淚 would love to go to Australia but , which has meant me staying back in New Zealand.

鈥淚 also have so much heart with the Pulse. I have a lot invested with the Pulse that I would really love to win another ANZ Premiership with them.鈥

Jackson has joined Silver Ferns captain Ameliaranne Ekenasio in suggesting the rules should be adjusted, with top shooter  due to being based over the Tasman with the New South Wales Swifts.

When asked if the criteria should change, the 1.92m goal keep said: 鈥淚 think it would be a good opportunity.鈥

Jackson said there will likely be a point she decides to sacrifice the Silver Ferns dress for a taste of Super Netball, but next year鈥檚 Commonwealth Games and the 2027 World Cup will keep her in New Zealand for now.

鈥淚t will all be determined by whether they do open up Silver Ferns eligibility to be able to play both. But at this stage, I鈥檒l be staying where I can play for the Silver Ferns.鈥

There has been a great deal of player confusion over what the criteria actually are to play overseas and remain eligible for New Zealand.

Ekenasio told Newstalk ob体育接口 on Monday that players must have 100 test caps to be eligible for an exemption to play offshore and still play in international fixtures.

Last month, Nweke confirmed the same to Fox Sports News, saying it was Netball NZ鈥檚 鈥渂lack-and-white鈥 rule.

However, the national body has clarified that no such 100-test rule exists and that each case was entirely at the board鈥檚 discretion.

Netball NZ chief executive Jennie Wyllie last month said the board continue to discuss their stance on eligibility 鈥 adding that she was encouraging them to continue to show flexibility.

The ANZ Premiership starts on Saturday, with Jackson鈥檚 Pulse up against the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in Palmerston North.
